Last year, I was sad with the news about the dissolution of
San Francisco band, Girls; especially because they had two successful albums
with beautiful songs like Hellhole
Ratrace, Honey Bunny or Laura just to
mention a few. However, in January I found out that main singer, Christopher Owens released
his debut solo album Lysandre
which is the name of a girl he met during a French tour with ex
band Girls.

Lysandre is an 11 track album which functions as continuous
piece with the recurrent opener theme “Lysandre’s Theme” which predominates
during the entire album. New York City and Here We Go Again are my favorite’s
tracks because it sounds a little bit to the album Father Son Holy Ghost, and
it sounded great live. However, I was hoping to listen some of the old tracks
from his former band but instead we got cover from Cat Stevens to Opus and just
one song from Girls, the lovely “My ma”.

The sound of the album could be defined as melodious pop featuring
flute, saxophone, classical guitar and intimate lyrics about an affair. The concert was at Biltmore Cabaret a small
venue with a good vibe that gave the audience a closer feeling to the singer.
This album is not to be expected a following from Girls previous works, this
material is more aligned with his past work and more melodic.

P.S: You can watch the first video of the album for the song, Here We Go Again and his participation as a model for Yves Saint Laurent.
